Understanding costs
Larger bathrooms require more tiles, waterproofing membrane, and labour time. A 4m² ensuite and an 8m² master bathroom are very different projects in terms of cost and complexity.
Moving plumbing positions or removing walls significantly increases cost due to additional plumbing rough-in, structural work and extended timelines. Most renovations keep the existing layout.
Your tile and tapware choices are the single biggest lever on final cost. A $40/m² tile vs a $200/m² tile across 20m² of wall is $3,200 alone. We guide you through selections that suit your budget.
Mid-height tiling (typically 1200–1500mm) costs significantly less than floor-to-ceiling. Full-height tiling is popular in premium finishes and adds considerable labour and material cost.
Older homes — particularly Highlands properties from the 1950s–1980s — can have waterproofing failures, rotted substrates or asbestos that require remediation before tiling can begin.
Custom-built vanity cabinetry, shaving cabinets and built-in storage adds to cost but significantly elevates the result. We build all cabinetry in-house as part of our joinery service.
Common questions
A standard bathroom renovation typically takes 14–20 working days once on site. Premium and bespoke projects with custom elements run 25–35+ working days. These times exclude tile lead times (which we manage upfront) and wet-trade cure times between waterproofing and tiling.
Yes — every project is quoted at a fixed price with a detailed scope of works. We don't use provisional sums for known items. The only time costs change is if you change scope during construction, which we manage with a transparent variation process.
You can supply them, or we can supply and coordinate them. Many clients prefer us to handle procurement — we manage lead times, check quantities and coordinate delivery to site. Either way, we allow enough lead time in scheduling so your renovation doesn't stall waiting for materials.
